The village of Shiraho

Shiraho is a quiet traditional village of 1600 people who kept its Ishigaki spirit and culture.

It is 10 min by car from the airport, 20 minutes by car to the city center and the ferry terminal. There are a few restaurants in the village, but if you seek night life, you will have to go to the city.

Shiraho held several Matsuris (festivals) every year where you can see the Yaeyama culture

The village is well known for its lagoon and its famous blue coral reef (one of the biggest in the world), it is one of the best snorkeling spots of Ishigaki. The beach itself is quite rocky, to find the best sandy beaches, you have to go on the north coast, at 20 minutes by car
